Support Groups
Here at St. Timothy's, we care deeply for our community and strive to reach out and help where we can. Recent events in the lives of our parishioners have brought to light our community's need for guidance and support when dealing with loss and chronic illness, so we are opening our doors for two support groups. Both will be held at our church, located at 1453 Staley Road on Grand Island. All denominations, religions, and the non-religious are welcome to join us.
St. Timothy’s community-wide grief support group, Love & Loss, will begin again October 14th on Zoom and will meet on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM for four weeks. If you or someone you know would like to register, please contact Pastor Kris at 715-773-4400. The support group will be completely confidential and there is no cost to participate.
We will be discussing the need to experience grief, the five stages of grief, the experience of grief, how to believe in yourself, lifelines, and goal setting. We hope you will consider joining us.
Steady LOVE is for those who live with visible and invisible chronic illness. This group will focus on the spiritual, mental, and emotional struggles of living with chronic illness and will meet the fourth Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 PM starting October 22nd. Please call 716-773-4806 to register.
Topics will include kindness to self and others, a non-judgment approach, how to help yourself, how to prepare for doctor visits, how to talk with each other, how to speak about sensitive issues, persistence, the road less traveled, dealing with fear, and new ways to approach life.
St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church on Grand Island has started an elder care support group that will replace the caregiver side of Steady LOVE. Please call them at 773-7647 for more information.
